I’ve tried many electrical products over the years and when assessing their usefulness all you need to do is ask one question: if this broke would I replace it? There’s a number of items that are really useful and convenient to me, such as the kettle, the microwave and the toaster. To that list I would also add the Magic Bullet Blender.

I’ve had a Magic Bullet for over 5 years now. Since then the product and its clones have evolved as a more powerful, slightly larger product to increase it’s use and efficiency, and a number of manufacturers have brought out their own model. It may have a different name but the main advantage is that it is compact and convenient. I don’t have to lug a huge piece of equipment around just to mix a milkshake or chop a garlic. I refer to mine as the bullet.

Having a number of serving cups means that I can use them to chop and mix a number of ingredients and I don’t have to keep washing then for reuse; I can concentrate on the cooking. Yes, you can make stand-alones like milkshakes or smoothies, but I want this to do some real work. I don’t buy passata – simply empty in a tin of peeled plum tomatoes, add herbs, salt, pepper and give it a 10-second whizz in the bullet. Easy. Other sauces just as easy.

The other day I was making a cheese sauce that went wrong – lumps! Just pour it into the cup and give it a quick whizz in the bullet and it’s back in the pan within 30 seconds, smooth as cream.

Try a real coffee: just blitz some coffee beans. Make a Pesto Sauce or Salsa in seconds. There’s even a juicer attachment. Maybe mix a cocktail or two. It’s amazingly versatile and useful.

My review is based on the a Magic Bullet Blender which I bought with my own money. I can personally recommend it. A Magic Bullet style blender will make a wonderful Christmas present or Wedding gift too. You can get one from Amazon.
