After buying Oyster sauce from an authentic Chinese shop, I realised my taste buds had never truly experienced the wonder that supermarkets pretend to sell!
So if you have a Chinese food store near you, it’s definitely worth the trip! And this is the first and easiest recipe I made with my new found ingredient…
Ingredients
- 200g mixed mushrooms, sliced thinly
- 350 – 400g frying steak, sliced to strips
- 2-3tbsp oyster sauce
- 2tsp minced garlic
- 1tsp minced ginger
- 3 spring onions
- 2tbsp + 1tsp olive oil
- 1tbsp light soy sauce
- 1tsp cornflour
Prep Time: 5 minutes Cooking Time: 15 minutes Total Time: 20 minutes + marinating
Method
- Slice steak and marinate in 1tsp oil, light soy sauce and cornflour for at least half an hour in the fridge.
- Heat the oil in a medium frying pan and add the garlic and ginger followed by the mushrooms.
- Turn up the heat and add the steak and spring onions, cook for 3-5 minutes until steak is browned.
- finally, add the oyster sauce and cook for a further 2 minutes.
Serve with rice or noodles.
